something i discovered hiding out in köln
Sometimes street photography isn’t so much about taking good pictures as it is about having the lens open when cool stuff happens. I was focusing at the woman in the background and an area off frame to the left and only vaguely aware of the guy in the foreground. The camera had a better idea.
These days when I’m doing street photography I look at body language. I used to photograph people I considered beautiful, young and old. That seems kind of creepy to me now, so I try to go for pictures that communicate without showing a lot of face.
It’s time for something different. I think I will cut up the daily pictures so there’s a series during the week and then something more juicy on weekends. This week I will show you street portraits from Köln and talk a little about my work. I hope you enjoy.
